Wasp on Tubular Bud

A wasp clings to a tubular bud and probes its open end with its mouthparts. The image is rendered in black-and-white with soft, even lighting and a shallow depth of field that leaves the background smooth and out of focus. Small granules of pollen and fine ridges on the bud's surface are clearly visible in the frame.
