Shelf Fungus on Tree Trunk

A shelf fungus projects from a narrow crevice in a tree trunk. The cap is pale tan with a pitted, almost honeycombed surface while the surrounding wood reads dark gray; the frame is tight with shallow focus. Fine radial ridges and small pore openings are visible along the cap's edge.
