Liatris Blazing Star Spike

A Liatris (blazing star) flower spike rises in the foreground with the sun aligned just above its tip. The sky is a smooth pale pink and the plant is mostly silhouetted, with the sun showing as a bright white disc centered behind the top. The thin, thread-like stamens at the flower's crown curve around the sun's edge and catch a hint of rim light.
