Armored Scale Insects on Stem

Armored scale insects coat a thin green stem and the underside of a leaf. The close-up view shows rows of small round gray-brown scales against a soft out-of-focus green background with low, even light that brings out their flaky texture. Many of the scales have a raised central bump and a white powdery fringe, and fine spider silk threads cross the frame.
