Brown-cap Mushrooms on Wood Chips

Brown-cap mushrooms growing on wood chip mulch near the ground. Their caps are reddish-brown with a fine white fibril ring at the rim; the image is shot close-up with soft, diffuse light and a shallow depth of field that blurs the background. The nearest cap shows clustered white mycelial tufts along its edge.
