Sailors Boarding a Galley

Sailors boarding a galley are depicted on a tall rectangular ceiling panel set into carved decoration. The scene fills the vertical frame with densely packed figures in dark browns and reds against a blue-gray cloudy sky, evenly illuminated and surrounded by an ornate gilded frame. The gilding shows wear and small losses where the carved rosettes and moldings have been rubbed down.
