Yellow Slime Mold on Wood

Yellow slime mold fruiting bodies sit clustered in a gap on a piece of decayed log. They show small round yellow-orange caps set against wide bands of dark gray-brown wood, photographed as a tight horizontal close-up with shallow focus. One cap has a white split that exposes a pale, granular interior.
