Metallic Long-Legged Fly

A metallic long-legged fly (family Dolichopodidae) rests on the surface of a pale green leaf near the lower right of the frame. The insect's iridescent thorax and segmented abdomen flash greens and golds against the soft, veined leaf under strong side lighting. You can clearly see the fine antennae and the tiny reflective facets on the abdomen in this close-up.
