White Spiny Puffball Mushroom

A white spiny puffball mushroom (Lycoperdon sp.) sits on sandy soil beside a small twig. The creamy white, densely spined surface occupies the lower-left of the frame, lit by soft daylight against a blurred brown and green background. Tiny grains of sand cling between the spines and the larger fruiting body presses against a smaller one.
