Adult Cicada on Tree Bark

An adult cicada clings to vertical tree bark near the right edge of the frame. The close-up shows the insect's dark, metallic-brown exoskeleton and translucent, veined wings under cool directional light against pale, moss-streaked wood. Three small orange ocelli are visible on the head and fine hairs cover the thorax.
