Bracket Fungus on Bark

Bracket fungus sits as overlapping shelf-like caps on a section of bark. The photograph is rendered in grayscale with soft midtones and a shallow depth of field; the shelves fill a tight horizontal frame while the background falls quickly out of focus. Fine pore dots and a frilled lower margin sprinkled with tiny debris are visible along the cap edge.
