Robber Fly with Long‑Legged Fly

A robber fly (family Asilidae) perches on a purple stem while holding and feeding on a long‑legged fly. The insects sit at the lower right of the frame against a soft, pale green bokeh; the robber fly is dark brown with orange legs and the prey has a metallic green thorax and bright orange eyes. Notice the robber fly's short, bristly proboscis inserted into the smaller fly and the fine hairs visible on its legs.
