Enclosed Bridge at Doge's Palace

The enclosed stone bridge that links the Doge's Palace to the old prison crosses a narrow Venetian canal. Pale grey stone sits between warm terracotta facades under an overcast sky, and the composition centers the bridge with layered arches receding behind it. Carved stone masks line the underside of the arch and a wooden motorboat passes directly beneath, leaving a rippled wake.
