Housefly on Inflorescence Spike

A housefly (Musca domestica) perches on a pale yellow inflorescence spike near the lower third of the frame. Soft, diffuse daylight renders the background as blended greens and yellows while the fly's metallic thorax and red compound eyes stand out against the pale buds. The shallow depth of field leaves only the fly and a few adjacent buds in sharp focus, showing tiny thoracic hairs and the fly's gripping forelegs.
