Male Northern Cardinal in Flight

A male northern cardinal is caught mid-flight among bare tree branches. The bird's red plumage and black facial mask stand out against a pale gray overcast sky, with dark twigs blurred in the foreground and background. The primary wing feathers are backlit enough to show fine detail and slight translucence.
