Bracket Fungus on Log

A bracket fungus grows in layered shelf caps on a decaying log. Warm peach and tan caps with darker brown tops are lit from the side, and the tight vertical close-up isolates the ribbed undersides against a soft out-of-focus background. A small round black insect is tucked beneath the upper shelf and is visible at center frame.
