Black Carpenter Ant on Sand

A black carpenter ant crawls across coarse sand and small gravel. Its glossy black exoskeleton and yellow-brown leg joints pick up low side illumination against a blurred gray-brown background, with the frame tightly cropped on the head and thorax. A long antenna sweeps through soft focus above the body and fine hairs and grains of sand cling to the mandibles.
