Female American Goldfinch on Branch

A female American goldfinch perches on a tangle of bare branches near the lower center of the frame. Her pale yellow and buff feathers catch soft side light against a bright, blurred background of pale greens and creams, while thin twigs create diagonal lines in the vertical composition. You can see the black-and-white wing bars and fine facial feathers in the sharpest area of the image.
