Male Eastern Carpenter Bee Hovering

A male eastern carpenter bee is hovering in mid-air near the center of the frame. Its pale yellow thorax and glossy black abdomen are evenly lit, and the translucent wings show a faint pinkish sheen against a soft gray background. The antennae are pointed upward and the wing motion is slightly blurred in this close view.
