Stone Winged Lion and Kneeling Figure

A stone winged lion and a kneeling figure occupy a carved niche on a building façade. The black-and-white photograph shows strong side light and high contrast, with crisp highlights on the lion's mane and the spiral columns framing a grid of round glass panes above. The open book at the lion's paw bears carved Latin letters that remain legible in the close crop.
