Syrphid Hoverfly in Flight

A syrphid hoverfly hovers in midair near the lower center of the frame. The insect shows orange-and-black banding, translucent wings blurred by motion, and sits against a wide grey gradient with a faint vertical shaft of light. The compound eyes' reddish pattern and the folded legs are visible on close inspection.
