Waxy Scale Insects on Scalloped Leaf

Waxy scale insects sit in a line along the midrib of a scalloped houseplant leaf. The leaf reads as deep green against a near-black background while the small circular scales are pale white and the image is shot with a shallow depth of field. Several scales show a tiny central dark dot and the leaf surface has a fine matte texture.
