Ichneumon Wasp on Coneflower

An ichneumon wasp perches on the central disk of a coneflower, its long antennae rising above the orange seed spikes. The wasp's amber body and translucent wings sit against brightly lit orange disk florets and soft, out-of-focus lilac petals in the background. A dried white petal fragment is caught beneath its legs and the upper antennae drift into blur from the very shallow focus.
