White Crust Fungus on Wood

A white crust fungus grows across a strip of decaying wood. The mat shows a densely packed tan spore surface edged with a bright, hairlike white fringe against nearly black timber; directional light and a narrow depth of field emphasize the textures. A tiny dark grain of debris sits on one of the central tufts.
