Bracket Fungus on Moss

A bracket fungus (polypore) sits on decaying wood at the right edge of the frame among moss and small twigs. Pale grey and cream caps catch a soft warm light while the rest of the picture dissolves into an olive-brown blur and shallow focus. The nearest cap edge shows a fine powdery surface and slightly scalloped rim in the sharp plane.
