Orange Gilled Forest Mushroom

An orange gilled mushroom sits on decomposing litter and a patch of rotting wood beside a pale, dried leaf. The peach-orange cap and pronounced radial gills are set against brown and gray tones, photographed in soft, diffuse light with a very shallow depth of field. The dried leaf at right holds round water droplets that reveal its veins, and small dark specks cling to several gills.
