Gilled Mushroom on Woodland Mulch

The gilled mushroom sits on decomposing wood and mulch at ground level. Its orange-brown cap is side-lit and the photograph uses a very shallow depth of field that leaves the background soft and out of focus. The fine gill edges under the cap and a slight upward tilt of the stem are clearly visible.
