Painted Winged Lion Panel

A painted winged lion occupies the central panel, shown standing with a forepaw resting on an open book. The panel uses brown and gold tones for the lion and halo, red and cream on the wings and robes, set against a deep blue ground and narrow wooden frame on red-gold wallpaper. Small painted boats and a walled town are visible in the landscape beneath the lion's body.
