Crustose Lichen on Charred Wood

Crustose lichen sits on a strip of charred wood, forming a mosaic of small cracked white patches. The photo shows pale off-white areoles against deep blackened wood, lit softly with a tight focus in the middle and a blurred foreground and background. Many patches are roughly square and separated by thin dark fissures, giving a tiled texture across the surface.
