Ladybird on Birch Bark

A ladybird beetle rests on a strip of pale birch bark near the lower left of the frame. Its red elytra with black spots and a glossy black head are lit by diffuse light while the background falls into a smooth beige and green blur. Tiny water beads and the fine punctate texture of the pronotum are visible at this magnification.
