Gilded Oval Ceiling Panel

A gilded oval ceiling panel sits within a grid of carved rectangular frames on a museum ceiling. The painted panels show polychrome mythological figures in blue, gold and flesh tones set against desaturated grey grisaille under even, indoor light. In the central oval a draped male figure in red reaches above an eagle while nearby panels show reclining monochrome nudes.
