Charred Log Bark Spiral

A charred log bark spiral sits at the broken end of a fallen log and fills the foreground of the frame. The photograph shows dark brown, gray and black tones under soft, even light, with a narrow depth of field that renders the background into a smooth blur. The curled bark reveals tight concentric ridges and cracked edges with fine ash lodged in the grooves.
