Oyster Mushrooms on Tree Trunk

A cluster of oyster mushrooms is attached to the side of a standing tree trunk. Their creamy caps catch soft side light against the dark, deeply furrowed gray bark, and the fungus occupies the middle-lower portion of the frame. A shredded strip of sapwood directly beneath the cluster shows where the tree's outer layer has been torn away.
