Carpenter Bee on Fencepost

A black carpenter bee sits on a weathered wooden fencepost, facing the camera. The bee's glossy black head and fuzzy yellow thorax are lit by soft, neutral light against a pale gray background, with a very shallow depth of field that blurs the lower fence. A small patch of yellow lichen on the post echoes the thorax color.
