Paper Wasp on Purple Flowers

A paper wasp (Polistes sp.) is perched on a cluster of pale purple flowers. The image shows the wasp's black-and-yellow body, orange legs, and translucent wings with bright highlights; a shallow depth of field leaves the mauve blossoms softly blurred. Tiny reflective spots on the wings and a clear yellow face pattern appear near the center of the frame.
