Bird's Nest Fungus Peridioles

Bird's nest fungus sits on a strip of dark, decaying bark with several cup-like fruiting bodies split open to reveal the round peridioles. The scene is dominated by warm tans and browns, lit from the side with low, directional light and framed tight in a shallow focus. A few glossy peridioles catch small highlights against the rough wood surface.
