Fruit Fly on Grass Stem

A fruit fly (Tephritidae) is perched on a pale grass stem at the lower right of the frame. The fly has a dark metallic body, red compound eyes and a translucent wing with dark bands; the scene is evenly lit and rendered with a shallow depth of field that leaves the background smooth and pale. You can clearly see fine bristles on the thorax and the wing's dark banding next to its small mouthparts on the stem.
