High Altar and Ceiling Frescoes

The high altar stands beneath a large painted ceiling fresco in the church nave. The altar displays white marble and gilt sculpture while the vaulted frescoes read as dark browns and grays, with side windows sending shafts of light across the canopy. Notice the twisted Solomonic columns flanking the altar and the heavily worked gilded baldachin above it.
