Sapling in Tree Crotch

A small sapling is growing in the V-shaped crotch of a mature tree. Dark, textured bark frames the sides while reddish-brown autumn foliage collects at the base and a bright, backlit canopy appears above. Lichen dots the trunk and a thin red stem is visible among the fallen foliage.
