Water Lily Bud

A white water lily bud rises on a slender stem above a bed of lily pads at the surface of a lake. Warm late-afternoon light gives the pale petals a cream tint against cool green pads and a soft, cloudy sky; the background is blurred and the bud sits low in the vertical frame. One petal shows a small brown blemish near its tip.
