Common Loon with Chick

A common loon and its chick float together near the lower center of a dark lake. The black-and-white image shows deep grays and blacks, a distant tree line across the top, and small highlights scattered across the water. The adult's checkered back and the chick's rounded head are clearly visible against the reflective surface.
