Orange Springtail on Grass Blade

An orange springtail (Collembola) clings to the tip of a single grass blade. The insect's amber body is side-lit and sharply focused while the tall blade and background fall into a dark, out-of-focus blur. Tiny translucent legs and short antennae are visible where the springtail meets the plant.
