Speckled Bracket Polypore on Trunk

A speckled bracket polypore grows from an old trunk cavity near the tree's base. The pale beige cap is densely freckled with brown and lit by soft, even daylight against a dark, lichen-flecked trunk. Dozens of tiny boreholes and a pronounced underside curve where the shelf meets the wood are visible in this frame.
