Little Egret on Mooring Chain

A little egret (Egretta garzetta) perches on a sea-worn mooring chain above the water. The bird's white feathers and black bill contrast with dark, algae-covered links and the pale gray-green ripples; overcast conditions keep tones even. A few droplets and a strip of hanging seaweed cling to the chain near its yellow feet.
