Hairy Plant Stem and Bud

Hairy plant stem and closed bud sit at the left edge of the frame. The photograph is rendered in black-and-white with strong side lighting that picks out pale hairs against a smooth mid-gray background and a shallow depth of field. Many tiny curly hairs (trichomes) catch the light and form bright filaments against the darker stem and bracts.
