Black Beetle on Wooden Post

A black beetle clings to a moss-covered wooden post at the right edge of the frame. The photograph is dominated by dark brown and black tones with low side lighting that picks out the beetle's glossy shell and the wood's rough grain; the insect occupies a narrow vertical band while the left two-thirds are blurred. Tiny spines on its legs and a thin line of moss along the seam are visible in the shallow focus.
