Saucer Magnolia Bud Opening

A saucer magnolia bud is beginning to open, its outer tepals parting to reveal a ruffled red inner petal. The outer surfaces read pale green-cream with a wash of pink, lit by soft diffuse light and framed in a tight vertical close-up against a blurred pink background. A single fine filament of spider silk crosses the narrow gap and the tepal surface shows a fine fuzzy texture.
