Purple Dead-nettle Cluster

Purple dead-nettle (Lamium purpureum) stands in the center of the frame with stacked, serrated leaves and small tubular pink flowers at the leaf axils. The leaves read as deep purple against a soft green background, lit by even daylight and photographed with a shallow depth of field that leaves the plants behind out of focus. The topmost leaf pair shows dense hairs and pronounced veining, and a single pale pink corolla peeks from the bracts.
