Rusted Mooring Ring on Canal Wall

A rusted mooring ring is fixed to a weathered stone canal wall at the right edge of the frame. The photograph shows rough beige-gray masonry and corroded brown metal in sharp focus while a black gondola with a blue cover, an arched bridge and reflective water sit blurred in the left background. The rope threaded through the ring carries salt and grit that stick to its fibres.
