Saint Sebastian Statue with Arrows

The marble statue of Saint Sebastian leans back against a carved tree trunk, his exposed torso pierced by several arrows. Cool white marble picks up warm side light while a mottled red-brown marble niche fills the background; the photograph is a close upward view of the chest, face and drapery. Bronze arrow shafts and feathered fletching remain lodged in the stone, their dark metal contrasting with the pale surface.
